Dawn Beasley is the honoured recipient of the 2020 Bob and June Prickett Sponsored Fellowship for Excellence in Visual Arts.
Originally this Fellowship was planned to enable Dawn to undertake a nine-week research trip and residency at The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. Unfortunately, Covid 19 had other plans for the world and all Fellowship trips were put on hold until travel restrictions were lifted.

At the beginning of 2023 Dawn, in negotiation with the Fellowship, came up with an alternative plan to undertake a research journey to Japan and the UK to explore how traditional and industrial practices from the past inform and support contemporary ceramic art practice.
Japan is renowned for rich cultural pottery traditions and inter-generational ceramic family studios. Stoke on Trent, UK, is home to famous pottery factories dating back to the industrial revolution.
